I don't listen to too much electronic music anymore because a lot of new electronic doesn't really appeal to me. However, Underworld are some of my all-time favorite musicians. The guys are really brilliant. I really prefer their older work as opposed to the new. Such good much for long drives! I've never seen them live and I'm still kicking myself that I didn't go to NYC this past September to see them in Central Park. Anyway, here's one of my favorite tunes.
I love this song and have been listening to it for quite a while, but just recently discovered the video. It cracks me up. I don't know if the song has only been accentuated by this brilliant work of a video...or tainted. ha!
If you live in Philadelphia, there's a free showing of the Sigur Rós movie, Heima, at the International House tomorrow night, November 20, at 8pm. First come, first serve! I can't wait! The cinematography looks amazing in just the trailer!
Good music makes everything better. Thanks to Donna for getting me hooked on my latest obsession: Biff, Bang, Pow! On Creation Records...those same guys who are responsible for amazing bands such as My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, Teenage Fanclub and many more. I had such a difficult time picking songs to post because every one is just AMAZING. They give me goosebumps.
It's been a couple of weeks or so since I've posted anything. I've been crazy busy! Anyway, I meant to write about the day that I spent with my grandpa a couple of weeks ago. My grandpa spends everyday taking care of my grandma (who can no longer take care of herself due to Alzheimer's). From the time he wakes up, until the time he goes to sleep, here's there taking care of her and holding her hand when she needs it. I often tell myself that if I ever meet someone who I want to spend my life with, I hope that he's just as great as my grandpa.
My grandpa is 80 and I don't recall EVER spending time with JUST him. It's always been my him AND my grandma. Well, one day in September he had called me up and asked me if I wanted to go see a play for which he had a pair of tickets. My grandma obviously could not go with him. So we went to see Stand By Your Man: The Tammy Wynette Story at Allenberry Playhouse in Boiling Springs, PA. We had a nice big lunch beforehand at their restaurant and then went to see the play.
I grew up listening to a lot of country music because it's all that my dad, brother, and grandparents had listened to. And I absolutely ADORE old country....pre-1990...so seeing this play with my grandpa was perfect. It reminded me of being a kid. And the play was GREAT! I've never been a fan of plays, but there was a lot of music and the acting and music was incredible. But one thing that I will never forget is that I was there with my grandpa who cried at the end when they sang Stand By Your Man. I know that he was thinking about the times that he spent with my grandma and how he wished she could have been there. And of course, I cried, too...for the same reasons.
